クリスマスが近くなってきました
この時期、あちらこちらでキラキラと飾り付けがされて
クリスマスの曲が流れています

クリスマスの曲でちょっといいなぁと思うのは
山下達郎の「クリスマス・イブ」
ワムの「ラスト・クリスマス」
B'Zの「いつかのメリークリスマス」
そしてジョン・レノンの「ハッピー・クリスマス」

どれも
楽しさと、ちょっぴりの淋しさが同居している感じが大好きです


本日の日経新聞で初めて知ったのですが
ジョン・レノンの「ハッピー・クリスマス」には
「戦争は終わった」という副題が有ります

この曲は、ベトナム戦争の頃の１９７１年に発表されたもので
「愛と平和」を訴え続けたジョン・レノンが
平和への願いを込めて作ったということです


歌詞の途中で出てくる「War is Over, if you want it」や
「富める者にも、貧しいものにも、黒人にも、白人にも、黄色人種にも．．．」
っていうところが、平和を望んでいる気持ちが伝わります


若い時にはジョン・レノンの事、好きでも嫌いでもなかったけれど
だんだん世の中が見えてくる年齢になって
彼の素晴らしさを感じる事が多くなりました

明日１２月８日は、彼の命日です
